Upon arrival and during your charter, were the staff of the charter company friendly and accommodating?
Sunsail was very professional and well organized. Everyone we met, from front desk to dock to restaurant, was friendly and courteous.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
Very good chart briefing. Boat briefing could have been a little more thorough, and never found some equipment that was supposed to be on board (dinghy pump, safety harness). They put most of their briefing material on line, but not the boat briefing; that would have been very helpful when we had issues.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
Yacht appeared to be less than a month old; very clean and in great working condition. Could have used a securing line or strap to keep the mainsail in place when lowered. Not thrilled with fixed mainsheet location vs a traveller, but understand rationale for charter customers. Same thing with jib sheet barber haulers.
Biggest issue was that morning bridles would rub on anchor flukes, especially when windy. Started lowering anchor a bit so that lines rubbed on anchor chain instead of anchor.
Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
yes, well stocked. Refrigerator door needed special attention to ensure it was properly latched.
Was the yacht well ventilated?
Not a single electric fan in the whole boat. Boat swung a lot at anchor, so even with all hatches open, ventilation was intermittent, and ventilation in the aft cabins was poor. This necessitated running the AC at all times when not underway. Even though the AC had three separate systems, there was apparently a known load issue with running all three at once, leading to a circuit breaker tripping. This circuit breaker was hard to find. The yacht did not have a central AC panel; circuit breakers were all over the boat, and no AC voltage gauge was provided. The DC panel was very good, and included fuel and water tank level readouts. Despite having a fancy sound system, we were unable to get sound through the cockpit speakers. The VHF in the cabin was hard to hear in the cockpit, and no handheld was provided. Only one USB outlet.

Tech support was timely and helpful when contacted. Return process was very easy; docking by staff upon return was also appreciated.

Yes. Still after multiple charters, struggle to understand freezer and refrigerator settings.

AC was on, great. Slight septic smell

Boat had child netting installed. We did not want it, delayed departure getting it off. Did not get a paddle for paddle board (or it was taken). Didn’t notice until next day- they did refund me which was appreciated.

Upon arrival and during your charter, were the staff of the charter company friendly and accommodating?
yes, the front desk staff were nice.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
pretty good, but in a rushed manner. Did not understand how the water maker worked and no manual on our second boat.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
Clean yes, working condition no. The Belatrix's dingy winch has wires disconnected...took at least an hour to get the electrician over to fix it. The generator destroyed itself on Belatrix the first time we used it. We spent hours diagnosing the issues with Tech Support (when they finally snawered) Because we were out of the service area, we had to go thru 3 nights without Air Conditioning. We had to swap out boats to the Event Horizon III. Even Horizon had electrical issues which I fixed. There was no Internet Router which I had to figure out by talking to Technical Support and taking a ceiling panel down.
Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
yes
Was the yacht well ventilated?
with 20 knot winds, yes. Where we used the AC, it took hours to cool down
Additional comments about the charter company and yacht you chartered?
having a checklist to know what to expect then checking in would be nice. There is one for checking out.
Technical Support is difficult to get someone to answer. When they do, it is quite hard to understand them. One lady from the Customer Support line was VERY good about calling back and reaching out to tech support to get an idea of timelines.

Tech Support and Customer Service do NOT have any voicemail...very frustrating when you are in and out of cell coverage.

The crew working at Sunsail Belize were top-notch, friendly, respectful, and answered any questions we ever had along the whole trip. I would highly recommend this being the only charter company you go with in Belize.

Sunsail/moorings was very attentive to our needs. We had a lazy jack malfunction two hours into our trip. We returned to port and they did the repair and got us going within a very short tinme.

We booked a 46 foot monohull and Sunsail upgraded us to a 45 foot catamaran. We are most grateful as the cat was much more comfortable.

Broken jammer and broken oven. I called about the broken over on day 1. They told me a chase boat would be out to fix it. No one ever came through the charter. We had items that needed to be baked that we had to give away since no oven.

See above for oven. Rest of equipment was fine. No cork screw.
Was the yacht well ventilated?
