The US Virgin Islands (USVI) is a popular sailing destination in the Caribbean. With short distances, predictable tropical weather, an abundance of water activities, and onshore restaurants and bars, a USVI yacht charter vacation has something to offer everyone!
Most US Virgin Islands yacht charters start from St. Thomas to explore the main islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and Water Island, plus 50 smaller islets and cays. Those who want to enjoy an exhilarating USVI sailing vacation can make the three to four-hour passage to St. Croix.
As part of your USVI yacht charter, explore the seven national parks, soak up the sun on unblemished white beaches, and experience the unique cultural blends of its locations and people. With so much to do and see in the US Virgin Islands, your sailing vacation will be packed with beautiful sightseeing, great food, yummy cocktails, beautiful sunsets, exciting water toys, and a whole lot of fun!
As a popular Caribbean destination, many people will book US Virgin Islands boat charters to enjoy the tropical weather, soak up the sun, and sail with the steady winds.
The peak season to reserve a USVI boat charter is during the winter months, starting in November and going through May. This is an ideal time to travel for many, as they are looking to escape the cold and relax in a warmer climate. The sailing season slows down a bit in June and July as hurricane season approaches.
If you want to avoid the winter surge, opt to travel by a US Virgin Island boat charter in the fall or spring. With year-round temperatures in the 80s and water temperatures in the 70s and 80s, the US Virgin Islands are an ideal sailing vacation destination.

Traveling to the US Virgin Islands is a breeze. Hundreds of aircraft fly in and out of Cyril E. King Airport each day, and several airlines offer direct flights from major U.S. cities such as Atlanta, New York City, Miami, Chicago, etc. Passports aren’t needed if you are a U.S. citizen and flying from within the U.S.
The airport is only two miles from Charlotte Amalie, so if your USVI yacht charter is set to begin from St. Thomas Harbor, then it is just a 10-minute drive from the airport. Some other USVI sailing charters set out from American Yacht Harbor on the east side of the island, which is a 30-minute ride from the airport.
In addition to our USVI boat charters, we offer many types of sailing charters in the Caribbean and other worldwide yacht charter destinations. Our partnership with reputable yacht charter companies ensures that you’ll find the perfect US Virgin Island sailing charter for your next vacation.
