Please answer the following questions pertaining to the charter company and the yacht you chartered.
Rating of Charter Company & Yacht: 5
Upon arrival and during your charter, were the staff of the charter company friendly and accommodating?
We arrived late after the office had closed, but we received the welcome packet and the boat was cooled off, clean and prepared for our sleep aboard the night before the charter.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
Yes the boat briefing was thorough, without being overwhelming. They made sure we had enough information to operate the boat, and a number to reach them if there were any issues that we didn’t cover, or that we may have forgotten.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
Yes, the main salon had one (of 2) A/C’s that was not working, but because there were two it did not affect our comfort at all. it was discussed during the boat briefing and the one that was working was plenty to cool the salon.
Was the yacht’s cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
Yes, we cooked several meals on board and used all of the cooking equipment. There was everything we needed to prepare and cook meals, and all the equipment worked as expected. There was a hand held broom and dust pan to sweep the salon, and it would have been nice to have a full sized broom for cleaning, but what we had was sufficient.
      Was the yacht well ventilated?
      Yes
Additional comments about the charter company and yacht you chartered?
The charter company was great to work with, and the yacht was in good shape and performed as expected. I will definitely charter with them again!

Please answer the following questions pertaining to the charter company and the yacht you chartered.
Rating of Charter Company & Yacht: 5
Upon arrival and during your charter, were the staff of the charter company friendly and accommodating?
Kristi & Jim welcomed us warmly; Sherri and Tara gave his tips and connections that we needed; Scubi, Melli & Walter were thoroughly professional in their briefings and their answering our frequent inquiries about the boat. They each knew the boat through and through and several times talked me through seemingly unfathomable problem solving.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
Scubi’s operations briefing was one of the best I’ve attended in my years of chartering.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
This was a one-year-old boat with more conveniences and gadgets and gilhickies than i’ve ever seen. All worked wonderfully, especially when we got guidance from Melli or Walter on things we needed to learn about.
Was the yacht’s cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
Certainly was! Microwave, coffee maker, toaster, ice maker, WATER MAKER! first time EVER that I’ve lived on a sailboat and not had to ration fresh water use. Wow!

It’s got more conveniences than my own home!
      Was the yacht well ventilated?
We prefer ventilation to air conditioning. The yacht had small windows and hatches but they were surprisingly sufficient. The wind blew consistently.

During the torrential rain in a frontal passage, we’d neglected to close the main sliding door to the salon. With the wind shift, a lot of rain got in and we had standing water in the salon. That’s a learning that we’ll keep in mind next time!
Additional comments about the charter company and yacht you chartered?
VIYC was one of the best charter companies we’ve used. They keep their word and honor their promises. They promptly fix stuff and immediately talk us through solvable problems. They know the boat, the waters, and sailing area, the culture.

We have used VI Sailing several times in the past. We have come to respect their professionalism, their approachable nature, and their knowledge of the industry and the various charter companies that they represent.
      Cruising Area

Did you like the area you chartered in?
We were hoping to include the BVI in our travels, but a resurgence of COVD- related lockdowns closed the borders to charterers.

So we circled St John twice and used the National Park Moorings almost every night. The cruising guide was an important tool. The chart screen (we called it “Harry Plotter”) was easy to use and solved many a navigation problem. Beautiful beaches; quiet coves; exciting hikes; frequent use of SUP and kayak; snorkeling everywhere; dinghy access to all sorts of fascinating places….

It is our pleasure to keep you informed of relevant specials / updates for your next charter. When do you plan to charter next?
We had such a good time on this trip that we’re thinking our every-two-years plan does not give us enough. So we’re contemplating early next year 2024, instead of waiting until 2025.

While we enjoyed the USVI this time (we’ve chartered in the BVI, Belize, Tahiti, Mediterranean, Windward Islands, Scotland, England, Spain, Pacific North-West…..) we noted that the BVI have more kid-friendly and interesting places (The Baths; The Indians; Foxy’s; Bitter End; Norman Island Caves…).
