Was the yacht comfortable and clean?
The yacht was INCREDIBLY clean, and the Crew were very diligent every day about making sure it was picked up and common / shared space was spotless. Very impressed with Capt Johnny and Chef Joe on this front
Was the yacht well ventilated?
It was ok - that was one of the harder things to solve for (despite the Crew trying multiple times). I think the sump pumps might need to be repaired, as the smell below-deck was sometimes pretty strong (nothing unbearable though).
Was the crew friendly and accommodating?
Capt Johnny and Chef Joe were phenomenal. They balanced giving us our own space while being attentive and friendly perfectly. Capt Johnny had an awesome itinerary planned for us, despite unfortunate circumstances with the weather, and was always mindful of asking about our wishes for the day or explaining activities and what was worth it. Chef Joe was super fun and a great addition to Johnny's personality. They both kept things very light, were very respectful, and super knowledgeable about the BVI's. They also made sure were comfortable and safe at all costs.
Was the food good and well presented?
The food and Chef Joe were the most impressive part of the trip for the whole group. We couldn't believe how delicious and well-presented his entire menu was throughout the whole trip. From perfectly prepared seafood to delicious breakfasts and amazing lunches / snacks - his skills and menu made the trip for us that much more special.

Beautiful boat and awesome crew - we would 10/10 book again.

Did you like the area you chartered in?
We loved the islands and all things we stopped at to enjoy. Beautiful areas - only wish we could have snorkeled at more spots, but Capt Johnny and Chef Joe were diligent about our safety and made sure we didn't swim in spots with strong currents (a few more than expected given the weather we endured).
Would you like to share your itinerary or a vacation highlight with us?
The Baths were amazing and so beautiful, everything I expected them to be. But honestly one of the memories that is sticking with me so much right now is the sunset sail Capt Johnny took us on around Great Camanoe, and Chef Joe's incredible afternoon grilled cheese's with whipped onion dip and Capt's cocktails on our last full night on the trip. The landscape and scenery while gently sailing by the coast line was such a perfect ending to the trip.

Was the yacht comfortable and clean?

My only suggestion for the VI Sailing team would be to include more information and facilitate more communication with the Crew prior to arrival. That was something we weren't sure about heading into the week we were departing for our trip, just what exactly our rough itinerary looked like.

Upon arrival and during your charter, were the staff of the charter company friendly and accommodating?
DYC was very helpfull before arrival on advice and guidance. Upon arrival the delivery was smooth and on time. Special shout out to Tiffany at the Nassau office.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
The onboarding briefing lacked the thoroughness and the checklist expected. That prevented us from discovering that the navigation software was not updated and water maker sensor not showing the real quantities in the tank, with erroneous generation readings.
There was a slight delay fixing the generator that was not starting.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
Yes, Overall the boat is in good condition.
The mechanical wind sensor was not sending the right electronic reading to Navionics. We had to rely on the good old look up at all times.
This issue and the out of subscription software (No update) and also the lack of AIS made the navigation slightly more challenging. Those were all mentionned to DYC
However the technical help is to be recommended. We lost the lazy jacks the second day. Mario and his team came to fix them at shroud cay where they were on a call. Excellent communication service and follow up.

Upon arrival and during your charter, were the staff of the charter company friendly and accommodating?
Yes. We had issues with the boat and the technical staff worked hard to resolve.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
Yes overall. A review of the forward deck hatches and the storage below would be good.

Wanderer needs to have all reef lines released when raising the main. With the sail down the reef lines are too loose so they get cinched up at the clutch. The first raising of the main was entertaining.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
The yacht was clean and the basic systems all worked.

The black water tank gauges did not work so it was impossible to gauge your usage. Empty daily right up to your next moorage. We had a leak that required a return to base.
Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
Be sure to do an inventory prior to departure. We did not have enough utensils for our crew of 8. I would add a medium pot and lid.

Binoculars would be nice. I never noticed if they were an extra we could have ordered.

Order a dinghy ladder.
Was the yacht well ventilated?
No. Wanderer has numerous port lights screwed shut (Jan 2026). Apparently they are having problems with replacement parts from Bali. This became a major comfort issue when the generator broke down resulting in no a/c.

The rear step ladders need some kind of water deflector on the deck above They leak if open in the rain.

Navigare was very pleasant to work with.

Wanderer pulls up into the wind when trying to sail with the main only. The jib was needed to counter the main. Useful to know prior to some frustrating sailing.

Norman Island - snorkeling at the Caves.
Salt Island bay - good anchorage
Virgin Gorda North Sound - Saba Rock mooring field was great. Calm water for sup.
The Baths - day anchor in Valley Trunk Bay. Definitely dive your anchor as it is very rocky
Marina Cay - I would give this a miss unless you want to go over to Scrub Island
Little Jost mooring field with a stop at Sandy Cay
Last night in Great Harbour Jost Van Dyke. Took a cab over to Soggy dollar. There is a trail over the headland to the other beach. Check out Ivan's Stress Free Bar.
