Yes, very accommodating

Yes, Gary provide a very thorough walk through.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
Yacht was clean and mostly in good working order. Two areas of attention before the vessel is re-chartered.

1. Genset no longer operational
- Narrowed to potential fuel filter issue
- Genset stopped running mid trip in middle of night. Could prime and start but would not
Continue running. Lost AC, Outlets etc.

2. Running Rigging
- Starboard Main Sheet very frayed and we were concerned for breakage though it held
- Port Side Jib Sheet "turning blocks" were fouled. Not turning and sawed through jib sheet
- Had to re-run the port jib sheet through halyard deck organize and refeed through Reef
Clutch. Ran fine for remainder of trip but running rigging should be updated.
Was the yacht's cooking and cleaning equipment sufficient?
Cooking and cleaning equipment were perfectly adequate
Was the yacht well ventilated?
Ventilation was OK but not great. AC cooled the boat more so in the salon than in the hulls and sleeping quarters.

Again, in a fast turn challenging environment, the charter company and staff were very accommodating.

We liked the Bahama's very much. Thanks to quality navigation equipment we were able to successfully navigate shoals, find our destinations and avoid hazards.

The Exuma's are beautiful cruising grounds.

Fantastic! Susan is terrific and gracefully answered all manner of questions. This was especially helpful since I hadn't chartered in 4 years. Also, I had never chartered in USVI.

Yes...friendly and accommodating.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
The captain (Kevin) did a great job familiarizing me with the yacht. There was, however, a huge miscommunication up front. The generator (which makes the A/C possible off dock) was inoperative. I was not told AT ALL. It was not until I got on the first mooring ball around 4:30 pm that I realized that we would be without A/C for the week on this boat. The website said it had gen and A/C. I was extremely upset. I calmly shared my dissatisfaction with the base manager who apologized for the miscommunication. She then set about to "make things right".

Yes...besides the A/C.

Yes.

As well as a monohull can be.
Additional comments about the charter company and yacht you chartered?
Lisa the base manager initially told me that, unfortunately, there were no other boats with A/C available. I shared with her that my contract was for a boat that showed A/C on the website and that, while things break, this was not shared with me before my charter. While she was not able to fix things that night (a miserable hot night) she really came through by giving us a better boat. Not only that, but she delivered it to us personally at the next stop on our itinerary. It lacked a jib for a few days but the boat was generally wonderful and our vacation was saved. I was VERY impressed that she delivered the boat to me herself to do it face to face. I think that showed a LOT of class and professionalism. Not only did she save this once in a lifetime vacation (my 73 year old dad made this trip), but she ensured I would, without hesitation, charter from DYC USVI again. Additionally, I thought every single person I came into contact with at DYC USVI was courteous, professional and great to work with. I will be leaving a similar review for them on TripAdvisor.

Yes. We had a sleep aboard the night before and we were able to leave our bags in the office until the boat was ready. The check in process was quick and easy.
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
Yes, they did. We are seasoned boat owners so we were familiar with all of the electronics and controls, etc.
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
We experienced repeated issues with the port and salon air conditioning. Every time we pulled in to a new port the AC lines needed to be bled in order for the units to come back on. As I said we are seasoned boaters so my husband was able to do this once we called the office and found out what the problem was but this was a vacation and he was not prepared to have to work on anything once let alone multiple times.

We also had an issue with the holding tank on the port side head. The smell was unreal.

The final issue was the starboard engine started to whine half way thru our charter. We lost half of a day so we could meet someone at Trellis Bay to look at the engine. It was determined to be an issue with the turbo and we were told to "continue on one engine if possible" or at the very least "take it easy" for the remainder of the trip.

The disappointing part was that we were approached by a couple who had previously chartered the same yacht 3 times and they had the same issues.

Yes, we were provided with everything we needed.
Was the yacht well ventilated?
With the exception of the terrible smell from the port side holding tank, yes.

Yes. We've chartered in the BVI before so had a good idea of what islands we wanted to visit. Our other 2 guests had never been before so it was exciting to show them all of the places and almost all of them have been rebuilt since we've been here so it was like we were seeing them for the first time as well.

They were a solid team and thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. Very accommodating and eager to please. Jason the Captain, new to USVI waters had done his homework and was a wealth of information about the areas we visited.
