Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
This was a bit lacking. Lots of chaos at the dock. Well intentioned but rushed. There was no real cruising briefing re: weather, problematic areas etc. A less experienced crew and skipper might have had issues with systems and or risky anchorages, etc.

Additional comments about the charter company and yacht you chartered?
Vessel was in very good shape, but as mentioned briefing was cursory at best, some of the videos were for wrong boat. Also, tanks were not full, which we caught. Boat was supposed to have a water maker, and it was clearly not installed although the pumps and inlets and outlets were present. The vessel did not have a “book”’in it detailing systems and procedures for reference once out of port. I have never seen this not present on a charter vessel before. There was also a ton of packaging and every possible language manual from commissioning which took up a lot of space and was cluttered. There were also an inordinate number of PFDs in every cubby imaginable making it challenging to stow provisions, water, etc. That being said I would definitely charter this boat again and recommend it. I think Navigaire was totally overwhelmed by getting open and commissioning new boats, three or four on the dock that I noted. Debrief on return was similarly disorganized. A rookie was sent aboard to do check out and it was clear he had no idea how to debrief. I showed him how to get the operating hours off of the engines and gen set.

Absolutely! It was amazing.

Amy and Biff were amazing! They made us feel so at home and everyone had a wonderful time.

Amy is an incredible chef, and the presentation was outstanding. Every meal was fabulous!

A+ for the Sail Caribe staff
Did the staff do a good job familiarizing you with the yacht and its equipment?
Mostly yes. With the exception of the water maker system (see next box)
Was the yacht clean and in good working condition?
Overall Yamuy II was in top condition, still looking like a brand new yacht. Everything was very clean and worked well, with the exception if the water maker.

The only down side was the water maker system, which gave us a lot of problems. Water maker didn't work right out of the marina. Only with lot of trouble shooting we managed to get it to operating sporadically. Eventually we did some replumbing (repurposing some spare parts) to bypass the sea strainer. After that system worked much better. With a small fresh water tank on board, the boat really needs the water maker to work. We were several times completely out of water.

Yes. Thanks to the A/C which worked flawlessly.
Additional comments about the charter company and yacht you chartered?
Overall very pleased. The only request I have would be regarding the conflicting info about the sailing grounds. The verbal briefing (and the off-limit areas we had to sign off at check in) contradicted Sail Caribe's own suggested itinerary in several points and the sail guide book in many more points. As a result, the sail plan I developed at home (which was done largely based on Sail Caribe's recommended itinerary) was practically obsolete. It would have been very helpful for Sail Caribe to inform us of all the restrictions ahead of time so that we could have planned around them.

Yes, we liked it very much. Quite a contrast to the much busier BVI. Lots of beautiful beaches without competing with other sailors for the best spots. Snorkeling is superior to BVI.

For a 10 day Charter SVI is a bit too small with not enough variety of anchorages. We didn't sail into the USVI because of the Covid testing protocols which was practically impossible to manage.
